Escarpment Business Community 2006In 2005 the first two phases of the Escarpment Business Community were serviced bringing to market approximately 105 acres of industrial land. Construction of five buildings is scheduled to commence during the summer / fall of 2006. These buildings will provide for a variety of manufacturing and warehousing uses. Some of the new residents will include Transpro Freight Systems Ltd. and Chudliegh’s food processing facility while HOOPP (Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan) will remain landlord of a number of buildings to be constructed for a variety of users. Milton Business Parks 2005In 2005 the last phase of Milton Business Parks was serviced, opening up approximately 58 acres of industrial land. Since the completion of servicing, the construction of two multi-tenant buildings totalling 235,000 square feet designed to accommodate up to 11 tenants are now nearing completion. These buildings are located immediately adjacent to Highway 401 and provide for excellent exposure. Milton - The Western Gateway to the Greater Toronto AreaSince the completion of the extension of Lake Based Servicing in 2004, the Milton 401 Industrial Area has become recognized competition for the nearby Brampton and Mississauga markets. Since 2004, many other developers have moved into the area and industrial development in the Milton area is now reaching new heights. The Town of Milton recently reported that in 2005, building permits were issued for approximately 724,995 square feet. In the first quarter of 2006, the 2005 total has already been surpassed with building permits issued for 770,000 square feet. Over the past five years the residential market in Milton has also been booming as the population has doubled. New Highway 401 Interchange PlannedFollowing various studies, the Town of Milton and Region of Halton are planning a Highway 401 interchange on the westerly boundary of the Escarpment Business Community. The Town and Region are currently working with the Province of Ontario on a definitive plan for this important interchange. James Snow Parkway will be extended from Regional Road 25 through the business park to Sideroad 5. The clear advantage to businesses locating in the Escarpment Business Community is the choice of the future interchange at the westerly edge or the existing Regional Road 25 and Highway 401 interchange at the easterly edge. "These interchanges will provide companies locating in the Escarpment Business Community with two strategic access points to the markets of Ontario and beyond," said TDI President Harry W. Snoek. "This access will be important to industries such as logistics and 'just in time' industries that need to get onto major arteries quickly and easily," he added. |
